Bringing a year-long festival from 28 June, it is filled with unforgettable moments, dazzling shows, and beloved Disney characters. For two decades, Hong Kong Disneyland has been a place where cherished memories are made where families laugh, friends celebrate, and dreams take flight. Now, as the resort turns 20, it’s pulling out all the stops to make this milestone celebration bigger, brighter, and more magical than ever before. Gather your friends and family and discover why Hong Kong Disneyland 20th Anniversary is the must-visit theme park event in Asia for 2025! 🥳
Let’s start by listing down the festivity lineup that you can expect when you’re there!
Kick Off the Fun with “Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle!”
Start your adventure with the high-energy Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle! stage show. Set against the stunning Castle of Magical Dreams, this 15-minute concert features Mickey and Friends and Duffy and Friends, all debuting exclusive 20th-anniversary party outfits.
Special appearances by Disney Princesses Aurora, Tiana, and Belle in never-before-seen attire add extra sparkle. The show immerses audiences with special effects such as fog jets, cold pyro, and massive LED screens, creating a festive atmosphere at the heart of the park’s anniversary celebration.
The upbeat 20th-anniversary anthem and two original songs will have you singing along and feeling the party spirit. Showtime are 12pm, 2:30pm, 4pm and 5:45pm.
Friendtastic! Parade: Dazzling Floats
The “Friendtastic!” parade is the largest and most elaborate in the park’s history, spanning 11 dazzling new floats each celebrating friendship through Disney and Pixar characters, music, and designed inspired by Hong Kong.
Let’s do a float by float breakdown:
1. Mickey and Friends
- Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy stand atop a float covered in larger-than-life Bauhinia flowers, paying tribute to Hong Kong’s official flower
- Each character “plays” a musical instrument, led by Mickey on drums
- Chip, Dale, and Pluto walk alongside, joined by the HKDL marching band
2. Zootopia
- A tall float themed to Zootopia, featuring Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and Officer Clawhauser. The design includes animated signs from Zootopia’s cityscape and vibrant digital screens
- Costumed dancers depict animals like armadillos, zebras, and cheetahs
- At the back of the float, a loop of lemmings clutching popsicles roams in circles, capturing the film’s playful spirit
3. Big Hero 6
- This float brings San Fransokyo to life with Baymax “flying” among neon lights and geometric shapes, sometimes enhanced by smoke effects
- Hiro stands atop his robot friend, joined by dancers in tech-inspired outfits and movable props, giving the unit an innovative, futuristic vibe
4. Monsters, Inc.
- Sulley rides a Laugh Factory-style float with monsters accompanying him
5. Toy Story
- Woody and Buzz ride an RC car amid dancers with patchwork Pixar accessories
6. Turning Red
- Red Panda Mei is encircled by spinning friendship bracelet beads, with energetic dancers celebrating friendship
7. Inside Out
- Joy and Sadness oversee a float styled as headquarters, filled with memory orbs and consoles
8. Up
- Carl and Russell ride a mini Spirit of Adventure blimp surrounded by balloons and Wilderness Explorer motifs
9. Duffy and Friends
- Duffy, ShellieMay, StellaLou, Gelatoni, CookieAnn, LinaBell, and Olu Mel (at the back of the float) appear for the first time on their dedicated float, themed to a magical garden, with butterfly-toting dancers
- Only one side of the parade features Gelatoni, and LinaBell is also on the same side so be strategic where you stand
10. Encanto
- The Casa Madrigal from Encanto dances to life with the windows, floors, and roof tiles physically dance in rhythm with music, filled with moving tiles, flowers, and animatronic windows and doors
- The float features the full Madrigal family and vibrant Colombian-inspired decor. Mirabel can be seen on the top of the house while Isabela is swinging from a swing at the front of the float
- Luisa and Bruno (as a figure) feature on this vibrant float, accompanied by Colombian-inspired costumes and energetic choreography
11. Disney Princess Finale
- The grand finale float showcases Anna and Elsa at the center, joined by a rotating roster of princesses namely Snow White, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Belle, or Cinderella that is set in front of a model of the Castle of Magical Dreams
- The float is followed by dancers holding ropes, marking the parade’s end
Float 4 to Float 8 on our list are mini floats while the rest are full size floats.

End Your Day with “Momentous: Party in the Night Sky!”
As evening falls, the celebration reaches its peak with Momentous: Party in the Night Sky! This grand nighttime spectacular transforms the park, from the Castle of Magical Dreams to Main Street, U.S.A., into a dazzling wonderland. For the first time, guests will experience eight multimedia elements, including large-scale 3D projection mapping, drones, illuminated water projections, fountains, flames, lasers, theatrical lighting, and fireworks. The 30-minute show features beloved Disney characters from classics like Sleeping Beauty and The Princess and the Frog. The Fairy Godmother’s magical touch reveals a glowing “2” and Mickey head in the sky, creating the signature 20th anniversary logo and sealing the magic for everyone.
Eat, Shop, and Snap Your Way Through the Celebration
Taste the Magic and savor over 80 exclusive food and drink creations, perfect for fueling your all-day celebration. These delights are all over the park, so keep your eyes peeled for them when you are moving around. When we visited the last time round, we dine at the Main Street Corner Cafe where we saw the visually stunning Giant Sundae Party which is famous for its lavish toppings and shareable size.

Explore more than 300 limited-edition merchandise items across six major collections. Find sparkling Mickey ears, themed apparel, and unique souvenirs like the 20th Anniversary SouvenEAR Mini Party Hats and Parade float collectibles to bring home the magic of the celebration.

Don’t forget your complimentary digital party photo! Capture greetings with Disney characters and ride experiences at designated attractions, then redeem your photo via the Disney PhotoPass Mobile App to keep the party vibes alive. While we were there, we decided to give this a try.

Meet and Greet your favourite 20th anniversary characters across the park
To commemorate the anniversary, Hong Kong Disneyland has created new themed photo spots, giving guests that perfect magical backdrop during their encounters:
Duffy and Friends Playhouse – Get to meet your beloved Duffy and Friends Characters in their 20th anniversary costumes and snap away to your heart’s content. As always check the app before visiting the playhouse to know who is in the playhouse on the day itself
Main Street, U.S.A. Town Square – You never know who you get to meet along Main Street so keep your eyes peeled open as we managed to meet Chip and Dale😁
Fantasy Gardens – A whimsical setting where families can meet princesses and even Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and even Pluto.

Fringe Activities
These were some of the things that we saw when we were in the park while we were walking around. Firstly we met Disney PUSH as it was rolling along Fantasyland. This is such a cute and lovable bot that sings and talks when it moves and it is so happy when you dispose rubbish into the PUSH area😁
We also met these talented cast members drumming away on pails and wowing the crowds with their skills and showmanship. We were so into it that we started dancing to the beat!
